This bible was published in 1663, after years of work by John Eliot to create a written form of the Algonquin language in order to conduct missionary work in new england. 

The copy held in the Merrick archives is one of two copies which retains the original covers and binding. However, it has suffered extensive damage and does no longer have the title page. The copy within the Merrick Archives measures 7.5in by 6 in by 2.5 inches.
